Updated to latest S2 software version, although can be downgraded to S1 software.

Two Play:1 speakers can be paired together for stereo sound (left and right channel). You can add a Sonos Sub or Sonos Sub Mini to a pair of these speakers for 2.1 channel stereo sound. You can also add a Sonos Soundbar (Arc, Beam, Beam Gen 2, Ray, Playbar) to a pair of these speakers for 5.0 surround sound, or add a Sonos Soundbar and Sonos Sub to a pair of these speakers for 5.1 surround sound.
