Vintage Goebel Hummel "Bookworm" Bookend Figurines
Pair of Goebel Hummel porcelain bookend figurines featuring the beloved Bookworm Boy and Bookworm Girl designs. Each hand-painted figure was designed by Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Each portrays a young child deeply engrossed in a book, seated with legs extended and a book resting on their lap. The girl wears a red bow and orange polka dot scarf, while the boy is dressed in a blue neckerchief and green smock.
These charming figurines double as decorative bookends. Each has M I Hummel imprinted on their rear end. Marked on the base with the Goebel backstamp.
Each has a plug on the bottom like a salt shaker. Perhaps sand could be added to make them heavier to better function as bookends.
Designed by Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel and produced by the Goebel company in Germany. Models #14/A (boy) and #14/B (girl), 5½" tall. Good vintage condition. (Books not included.)
