R. Clark Mallam (1940-1986) was a respected anthropologist and archeologist who taught at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and undertook excavations of the region's effigy mounds. He died tragically young of cancer while working on a collection of stories about the Nebraska prairie land of his childhood and the experiences of his parents and neighbors. Mallam's stories were posthumously edited and prepared for publication by his Luther College colleague Harvey Klever. This is one part memoir, one part family history, and one part Willa Cather! A great addition to the library of readers interested in Nebraska and the Central Plains, 20th Century rural America, regional literature, and memoir. Overall good condition with tight binding and clean unmarked pages. The boards are in good condition without bumping or fraying. The dustjacket is intact and clean but has wear, including numerous small tears and creases on the edges and spine. Smoke-free home. See photos carefully.
