This is an original 1916 Active Service Testament, a pocket-sized New Testament issued to British and Commonwealth soldiers during World War I.
Bound in brown leatherette and small enough to fit in a uniform pocket, these Testaments were distributed by The Scripture League and other organizations to provide spiritual comfort, moral guidance, and encouragement to troops serving on the front lines.
Inside the front cover is the Pledge Page from The Scripture League, and facing it is the printed Lord Robertss Message to the Troops dated 25th August 1914 an inspiring letter urging soldiers to trust in God and find guidance, comfort, and strength
