This charming vintage Willitts Exclusive Imports music box was made in Japan during the mid-20th century (1960s–1970s), when Willitts imported fine porcelain collectibles for the American market. While not entirely handmade, each piece was individually decorated and assembled with detailed porcelain work and ornate metal trim, making every box slightly unique.
The design features songbirds perched among colorful blooming flowers, a timeless nature motif popular in Japanese porcelain of the era. Inside, the box opens to reveal a velvet-lined jewelry/trinket compartment, alongside an etched clear panel that protects the wind-up musical movement. When wound, it plays beautifully — and this piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or flaws, and the music works perfectly.
