Cast iron balance scale red paint. The original Chatillon company was founded in 1835 by John Chatillon as John Chatillon & Sons, Inc to manufacture weighing scales products. This is a rare Chatillon & Son cast iron balance scale with original red paint, Circa early 1900s.
Overall piece is in very good condition considering age and use. Chatillon was famous for making the hanging spring scales; this type of scale from the maker is rare to find. Scale measures 6 inches tall; base measures 15 inches by 6 inches. Very heavy. A perfect piece for the collector. Charming on a farmhouse decor kitchen counter filled with fresh fruits and veggies.
