Authentic U.S. Navy USS Toledo (CA-133) Ships 5th Anniversary Birthday Menu & Mailed Envelope dated October 27, 1951. This rare set was mailed by a sailor aboard the cruiser to his family in San Pablo, California, just days after the ship celebrated its 5th birthday during the Korean War.
The printed program features a detailed dinner menu (shrimp cocktail, beef steak with mushrooms, coconut cream pie, and even cigarettes) along with a message from commanding officer Hunter Wood, Jr. The envelope is postmarked October 30, 1951, Coronado, CA and clearly addressed in the sailors handwriting.
Condition Notes:
Menu: Excellent for its age, light folds from mailing.
Envelope: Age wear, minor stains, intact with strong postmark.
