“Made by Rene Gaillard after Francois Boucher. Rene Gaillard (1719–1790) was a French engraver. Francois Boucher (1703–1770) was a prominent French painter in the rococo style. He is known for idyllic, pastoral scenes and voluptuous treatment of classical themes. One of the most versatile and influential French artists of the eighteenth century, he not only decorated palaces and private residences, but also painted portraits, landscapes, and mythological scenes; and designed opera sets, porcelains, and tapestries.”
