Gorgeous pair of brooches on goldtone with a bird theme. Both are small. The larger measures 1 1/2” x 5/8”. It features a swirly purple celluloid jelly belly, a bow, flowers and a yellow bird perched atop with a red rhinestone eye.
The smaller brooch features a yellow bird o in flight with a red rhinestone eye standing over or flying with a pearl (egg?). It measures 3/4” x 5/8”.
I believe these are Fred Gray brooches from
the 30’s. His brooches were characterized by enameling and using bright yellow birds with red rhinestone eyes. He also employed the jelly belly in his work.
These are in excellent condition for their age. There is some edge wear around the beaks.
I believe these are both signed on reverse in the round central spot under the pin. There may be additional markings on these.
Both pins and clasps are functioning.
